OCIS活动| Whole School Speaks——OCIS全校英文畅言日精彩回顾


兴趣是最好的老师,学以致用是学习的终极目标。OCIS一直要求老师以课堂为抓手,以兴趣为导向,让学生沉浸于英文的世界,在轻松愉悦的氛围中,在潜移默化的环境里学习并使用英文。

Interest is the best teacher, and applying what is learned is the ultimate goal of learning. OCIS has always required teachers to use the classroom as a starting point, interest oriented, and immerse students in the world of English, learning and using English in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, and in a subtle environment. 

5月6日,一年一度的全校英文日如期到来,与之前的英文写作日、英文诗歌日相联系,今年的主题是"全校英文畅言日"。

On May 6th, the annual English themed day arrived as scheduled, as we had English Writing Day and English Poetry Day before, this year's theme is Whole School Speaks. 

活动包括了英文戏剧,辩论和商业推介,学生们利用上午时间制作表演物料,练习戏剧台词,准备路演展示,半天的时间紧张而有序,下午即呈现了一场精彩的英文盛宴。下面,就让我们一起看看这充满活力与惊喜的英文日吧~

The activities included English drama, debate, and business pitch. Students used their morning to create materials, practice drama lines, and prepare for the pitch. They half a day packed and orderly, and in the afternoon, a English exhibitions were presented. Now, let's take a look at this vibrant and surprising English Day together~



01

英文音乐剧

English Musicals

孩子们在老师的帮助下,自己制作表演头饰,利用上午时间完成歌词学习和动作彩排。

With the help of the teacher, the children created their own performance headwear and used the morning to familiarize with lyrics and actions. They fully experienced the beauty of language and music fusion in familiar English songs, and the beautiful singing voice and melodies clean up every corner of the theater.

舞台上,孩子们在耳熟能详的英文歌曲中充分感受语言与音乐的融合之美,优美的歌声、动听的旋律荡涤在剧场的每个角落。

Primary and secondary school students rehearsed English short plays, and the performance of the plays encouraged students to use English more boldly and confidently. The actions and expressions of the young actors vividly presented the story to their classmates.

英文戏剧

English Drama

小学和中学的学生分别彩排了英文短剧,戏剧的表演形式鼓励学生们更加大胆、自信的使用英文,小演员们到位的动作、表情将故事活灵活现的展现在了每一位同学面前。

Primary and secondary school students rehearsed English short plays, and the performance of the plays encouraged students to use English more boldly and confidently. The actions and expressions of the young actors vividly presented the story to their classmates.

美式辩论赛

American Debate

小学部高年级学生在Steven老师的指导下,学习了美式英文辩论的知识理论和技巧。学生们自由选题并分组,完成持方观点的准备,并在舞台上围绕“历史是否需要成为必修课”这一辩题,为大家呈现了一场完整而流畅的辩论赛。

Under the guidance of Teacher Steven, senior Primary students honed their skills in American English debate. The students freely selected topics and were divided into two groups to prepare for their own viewpoints. They later presented a complete and smooth debate competition on stage around the question of "whether history needs to be a compulsory course".

商业推介

Business Pitch

G8-G11的商业推介活动是仿照BBC热门创业节目《龙穴》进行的。许多参加者都有有趣的想法和商业概念,并渴望将自己的想法推向市场。虽然演示时间十分紧张,但同学们相互协作,融合了团队的想法,完整地展示了产品和业务的关键特征,并强调了生产和设计产品的企业文化。同时,学生们还作为一个团队一起设计、计划和营销,让这次活动充满了协作的乐趣。虽然有些学生觉得这很有挑战性,但一切都很有趣,学生们都很喜欢这个活动。我们看到了一些学生的突破性舞蹈动作,效果非常好。一些产品是原创的,比如在了解当地市场和产品的基础上进行营销的工业应用的电气接线盒。学生们都很勇于挑战自己,尽量全英文交流。评委们针对性地提出了很多问题,学生们也给出了有趣而专业的解答。

The Business Pitch activity yesterday was modeled after the popular BBC series Dragon’s Den.  There were many participants who had interesting ideas and business concepts who were eager to market their ideas and have a go with their idea.  Students ranged from Grades 8, 9, 10 and 11 were all present yesterday to present their product and business.  The presentations were made under time pressure but were well put together to represent the thoughts and ideas of the group to show the key features of their product and business.  These students also accentuated the corporate culture to produce and design their product.  They also worked together as a team to design, plan and market their business and product.  The event was fun with bouts of collaborative planning and marketing.  Though some students found it challenging, it was all good fun and the students all enjoyed this event.  We saw some student breakout dance moves to great effect.  Some products were original and included electrical junction boxes for industrial application; Which had to be marketed with understanding of the local market as well as the product.  Many students spoke in English throughout this event and really pushed themselves outside their comfort zone. 

最后,评委们经过了热烈的讨论,从诸多优秀的参赛队伍中,艰难的选择了获胜的队伍。这次活动激发了商科学生的学习热情和精通英语的决心,所有参加比赛的学生都是赢家!

In the end the judges had a tough time deciding on the winning team as many students and their teams were ably led.  There were many prudent questions asked by the judges and some interesting answers by the students in this exchange. This event brought out the eagerness of many students in Business and their determination towards being proficient in English.  All students who participated were winners regardless of whether they won simply because they were willing to try and made a go at it.




扎实的外语知识、良好的英文交际能力、跨文化意识和国际视野是OCIS英文教学的目标,作为英文课堂的有效延伸,全校英文日活动为学生的语言学习提供了新的舞台,虽然在一天内完成彩排和展示对于每个孩子来说都是艰巨的任务,但我们相信,这也正锻炼了孩子们处理紧急任务的能力,完成高强度学习的能力。希望你们每个人都能在活动中找到自信,祝贺你们向更优秀的自己又迈进一步!

Solid foreign language knowledge, good English communication skills, cross-cultural awareness, and international perspective are the goals of OCIS English teaching. As an effective extension of the English classroom, the Whole School Speaks activity provides a new stage for students' language learning. Although completing rehearsals and presentations in one day is a challenging task for every child, we believe that it also exercises their ability to handle urgent tasks, and high-intensity learning. We hope each student can find confidence in the event, and we congratulate you on taking further steps towards better selves!
